Latest in Conference Series, Based on Bestselling Business Book, Features Business Mavericks and Famed Mountaineer

PALO ALTO, CALIFORNIA–April 11, 2005–Garage Technology Ventures today announced the final lineup of speakers for its ‘Art of the Start’ Conference will include more than a dozen prominent VCs, serial entrepreneurs as well as renowned mountaineer Jim Whittaker. The latest edition of the Garage “Art of the Start’ conference series, based on the new book by Garage Managing Director Guy Kawasaki, is slated to be held Thursday, April 21 at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California.

Garage, a seed- and early- stage venture capital firm focused on emerging technology companies located in California and the West Coast, is joined by HellerEhrman Venture Law Group in sponsoring the event, which is designed to give an analysis of the current investing environment as well as practical and actionable advice to help make entrepreneurs successful.

“The rubble of the meltdown is now fertilizer for the next generation of entrepreneurs and innovation,” said Garage Managing Director Bill Reichert. “More so than in the past five years, entrepreneurs have confidence to start new companies, investors have confidence to fund them, and consumers and corporations have confidence to buy from startups. But the challenges inherent in starting a company are as significant as they’ve ever been. The ‘Art of the Start’ will equip entrepreneurs with the fundamental understanding of what it takes in today’s unique environment to build a successful business.”

Noted venture capitalists participating include:

  • Steve Jurvetson, Managing Director, Draper Fisher Jurvetson
  • Arati Prabakar Partner, US Venture Partners
  • Steve Baloff, General Partner, Advanced Technology Ventures

Everest, on May 1, 1963. In addition, Mohanjit Jolly, Managing Director of Garage Technology Ventures, will join Kawasaki and Reichert in moderating the day’s sessions.
