A recent study of venture capital websites reported by TechCrunch yielded some interesting results: Garage is ranked Number Five among the top ten venture capital websites.

According to the study, the top ten venture capital websites are:

1. First Round Capital
2. Sequoia Capital
3. Bessemer Venture Partners
4. Highland Capital Partners
5. Garage Technology Ventures
6. Draper Fisher Jurvetson
7. New Enterprise Associates
8. Kleiner Perkins Caufield Byers
9. Polaris Venture Partners
10. Benchmark Capital

The fact that Garage is so high up on this illustrious list, despite being much smaller than the rest, is a testament to the core spirit of Garage: To be an open venture capital firm that reaches out broadly to entrepreneurs and offers support and advice even to those entrepreneurs we can’t invest in.

The most active part of the Garage website is the section offering Resources for Entrepreneurs, which offers advice for entrepreneurs on getting started, getting funding, and building a successful company.

The original research on venture capital websites was done by Volition Capital. The same firm had previously done research on venture capital bloggers and ranked Guy Kawasaki as the Number 2 VC blogger, behind Fred Wilson of Union Square Ventures. (Note: If Guy’s blog traffic had been included in Garage’s web traffic, the way First Round includes their blogs in their website, Garage would have been ranked Number 1.) The research was reported in TechCrunch along with the website rankings.
